"There's no way," Locke mumbled distractedly as he re-read the sign in front of them for what must have been the seventh or eighth time. "We're not that lucky."

Their gaze flicked back to the house at the other end of the driveway. It seemed for-all intents and purposes-a perfectly normal home. Two stories, with what looked to be space for an attic up top; old but not too weathered; three bedrooms, he guessed, from the number of windows; a small deck at the entrance and room for a well-sized garden.

"There's just no way…" he repeated quietly at the sign, as if the text would change if he so much as breathed on it wrong.

The unlocked front door shouldn't have come as surprise, but Latias still had keep the courier from stumbling back down the steps as the door swung open without resistance.

The house was just as unassuming inside as it was outside. It was clean-if a bit dusty-and surprisingly well-furnished. The only indication that no one was living here was the lack of any personal items. No photos or awards or hobby items, just decorative pieces like a pair of ornamental swords and plants dead from the lack of care.

The legendary suddenly knocked her charge to the ground, just as the swords swung from the mantle and over the pairs' heads. Fear and adrenaline exploded into fight or flight instinct as the unmasked Doublade now hovered between them and door, Blocking the immediate exit, but as Locke turned to give Latias a command, the legendary had already disappeared down the hallway.

The image of Latios using Psychic against angelo vestri's Shaymin suddenly flashed in his mind-ghost types were super effective against psychic types, in the same way that beheadings were super effective against humans.

As if to prove his theory, the Doublade lunged out at the courier again, missing him by a hair as he threw himself out of the way. It crashed into something behind him, probably one of the plants, but Locke raced after his companion without stopping look back.

The Bronzor rattled where it was struck, making an odd wobbling sound that might've been funny if he weren't so terrified. Instead, they shoved Latias the rest of the way into the kitchen, racing to the other side of island and scanning the wall for a window or a closet or-

The Bronzor had ceased its warbling in the same instant a thick k-chunk sound signaled the freeing of the Doublade, but Locke was already at the door. They swung it open and charged straight-
